Jamaat Hindu wing unveiled in Rangpur

In a move to promote communal harmony, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has established a Hindu wing committee in Pirgachha, Rangpur.

The formation of the committee was announced on Friday during a discussion and exchange meeting held at the Upazila Jamaat office, attended by members of the local Hindu community.

Bhavesh Chandra Barman, an assistant professor at Mirzapur Degree College, has been appointed as the committee’s president, with Bijon Chandra Das, a medicine trader, serving as general secretary.

Other key members include Tapas Chandra Roy, a demonstrator at Devi Chowdhurani Degree College, as vice president; Kisamat Jhinia as assistant secretary; Sudharanjan Barman as president of the Sanatan Sangha; and Prabash Chandra Barman, an assistant teacher at Deuty School and College, as treasurer.

Abdur Jabbar, the ameer of Jamaat’s Sadar Union branch, formally announced the committee, while Hafez Idris Ali, the Union Jamaat’s organizational secretary, led the meeting.

The creation of this Hindu wing committee represents a significant step by Jamaat-e-Islami to broaden its outreach and actively include members of the Hindu community within its organizational structure.
