Dengue outbreak rises in Ishwardi

The incidence of Aedes mosquito-borne dengue disease is suddenly increasing in Ishwardi. 42 people have been admitted to Iswardi Upazila Hospital till October 24 due to dengue. Dengue-affected patients are also crowded in private hospitals. In September, 17 people were treated at the Health Complex and at least 21 at the private Imperial Diagnostic Centre. Apart from residents of the municipal area, the victims include Union and Rooppur nuclear power plant workers. Aedes mosquitoes spread in standing water due to frequent rains. Moreover, the locals expressed their opinion that dengue is increasing in Ishwardi as there is no initiative to eradicate Aedes mosquitoes.
Basthya Complex statistician Nazneen Afroz said that 42 dengue patients were admitted to the hospital in October, including three in the hospital on October 24. Apart from this, dengue sufferers are receiving treatment in various private clinics and hospitals. Stating that the incidence of dengue is high in Ishwardi, he said that an average of 3 to 5 dengue patients are being admitted to the hospital every day. Also, the affected people are flocking to various private hospitals, clinics and diagnostic centers for treatment and examination. Critical patients are being sent to Pabna, Rajshahi and Dhaka.
Upazila Health Officer Dr. Malekul Aftab Bhuiyan said that dengue patients are coming to the hospital every day. The type of disease is also changing. If the body has pain, fever or any other symptoms, it is asked to check the blood stream (CBC). If the number of platelets in the body is below 45 thousand, it is being transferred to Pabna, Rajshahi or Dhaka. Eddy mosquitoes are spreading lava in the water accumulated by recent frequent rains. However, this time no death has occurred yet, he said, everyone should be aware. So that water does not accumulate anywhere, it is also important to kill mosquitoes.
