The listing of ‘Economic Census-2024’ will continue till July 26. The main activity of census data collection is scheduled to be conducted in November and December this year.
Sylhet divisional joint director and divisional census coordinator of ‘Economic Census-2024’ Sahabuddin Sarkar gave this information in the conference room of Sylhet divisional BBS office on Wednesday (July 10) afternoon.
Sahabuddin Sarkar said 4 districts of Sylhet division have been divided into 7 ‘census districts’ for the sake of fair listing census. Among them 3 in Sylhet, 2 in Sunamganj and 1 each in Habiganj and Moulvibazar. These districts are again divided into 4 thousand 69 listing areas and the current activities are being carried out. For this activity, 4 thousand 69 listers or list preparers have been appointed in 4 thousand 69 listing areas. In this regard, local educated unemployed youth and those with previous census work experience have been given priority.
After recruitment they are given training. They will list an average of 650 houses or institutions each. Listers will go to all common houses (houses), messes, markets, shops, government-private-autonomous offices, clubs, companies, banks, halls, educational institutions, religious institutions, hospitals, clinics and all types of small and large institutions to collect information. Listers have identity cards. There is one Zonal Officer each to monitor their work. Upazila Census Coordinators (UCC) are there to monitor the work of these zonal officers. Listing process is going on digitally through tabs and monitoring of their work is also done through ICMS software.
