Madan Upazila premises now an artistic delight

Madan Upazila Parishad premises in Netrokona are being decorated aesthetically with the touch of Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Shah Alam Mia. The parishad premises have now become a park due to the removal of old buildings, earth filling and alpana on trees.
The current UNO Md. Shah Alam Mia took the plan to solve these problems and enhance the beauty of the Upazila Parishad premises. In order to give an aesthetic shape to Madan Upazila Parishad premises under his leadership, Tk 8.20 lakh was allocated for soil filling and paving and beautification of the Upazila Parishad premises, in front of the quarter building, primary education office and election office and public hall grounds in the fiscal year 2023-2024.
UNO Md. Shah Alam Mia said, “After joining, I presented the plan at the coordination meeting to solve the bad condition of the parishad. Later, the chairman of the Upazila Parishad proposed the project. According to the rules, the Upazila Engineer and Project Implementation implement the works.
I also form a committee to oversee the proper implementation of the projects and if they submit satisfactory reports, bills are given. As a result, the courtyard of the parishad has become a place of life for the people.”
Upazila Parishad Chairman Habibur Rahman said, “The decision was taken in the coordination meeting to enhance the beauty of the Upazila Parishad premises. Beauty works have been implemented through several projects. As a result, the parishad has now been aesthetically equipped. People of all classes and professions, including service recipients, are enjoying the beauty of the parishad premises.
Many people who came to receive services at the Upazila Parishad said that the condition of Madan Upazila Parishad premises was very bad for a long time. In the rainy season, it was difficult to go to the office due to water accumulation. Now the parishad premises have become very beautiful due to development work including land filling. Being a beautiful environment, people are happily receiving the service. Madan Upazila Project Implementation Officer Humayun Kabir said, “At the coordination meeting of the Upazila Parishad, discussions were held to enhance the beauty of the parishad premises. In this context, it has been implemented beautifully.
It was known that in 1983, Madan was upgraded to an upazila with an area of 91 square miles of 8 unions. Later, on 11 July 2001, Madan Thana Sadar was upgraded to a municipality. But the condition of Madan Upazila Parishad premises was deplorable. As the infrastructure was lagging behind, the service delivery activities were going on. Each office was run from a different dilapidated building. In 2022, a new five-storey administrative building was constructed that change somewhat.
In the meantime, soil filling has been done in the parishad premises and alpana has been done on trees. Construction of internal roads in the parishad premises is underway. The main entrance has been renovated. The excellent Shaheed Minar has been added to it.
