AL pays homage to Adv. Sahara Khatun

Awami League (AL) leaders and activists on Tuesday paid rich tributes to former AL Presidium Member Adv. Sahara Khatun by placing wreaths at her grave in the city’s Banani.
Turag Thana unit of AL leaders and activists paid homage to Adv. Sahara Khatun’s grave in the morning, marking the 4th death anniversary of the AL leader, said a press release, reports BSS.
Lawmaker of Dhaka-18 constituency Md. Khosru Chowdhury, Dhaka city north AL joint general secretary Motiur Rahman Moti, legal affairs secretary Adv. Anisur Rahman, member Kazi Salauddin Pintu, Turag Thana unit AL vice-president Nurul Islam Mollah Suruj and Uttar Khan union AL general secretary Atiqur Rahman Milon, among others, were present.
Sahara Khatun was made the home minister in 2009 and later she served as the post and telecommunication minister.
Born on March 1, 1943 at Kurmitola in the city, Sahara Khatun was involved in politics during her student life. After her debut in law profession, she actively joined the AL.
She served Mohila Awami League as its city unit’s women affairs secretary and vice-president as well as central committees’ office secretary and general secretary.
