Court orders to attach properties of Sylhet Customs Commissioner
Court Correspondent :
A Dhaka court on Thursday ordered the authorities concerned to attach the immovable properties of Mohammed Enamul Hoque, Commissioner of Sylhet Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate, in a case lodged over amassing of illegal wealth.
Dhaka’s Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mohammad Ash Shams Jaglul Hossain passed the order, allowing a plea of the Investigation Officer and the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Deputy Director Farzana Yasmin.
Confirming the matter, ACC Counsel Mahmud Hossain Jahangir said the anti-graft body filed the case against Enamul for amassing illegal wealth worth Taka 9.76 crore.
The ACC during its probe learned that the accused is trying to sell or hand over the properties bought by money earned through corruption.
If the accused manages to hand over the properties, our goal of seizing the properties under the state would be hampered, the ACC counsel added.
