Dhaka DC sends personal letters, gifts to 25 top SSC achievers
Dhaka District Commissioner and District Magistrate Farida Khanam has sent personal congratulatory letters, along with books, flowers and sweets, to 25 high-achieving students from the district who performed well in this year’s SSC and equivalent examinations.
The information was disclosed by the Dhaka District Commissioner’s Office on Saturday afternoon.
The initiative seeks to recognise the students’ academic achievements while encouraging them to develop into responsible citizens capable of contributing to the country’s development.
In her letter, Farida Khanam congratulated the students on their success and said she saw in them not only talented students but also future enlightened individuals.
She described their SSC achievements as a matter of pride for Dhaka district.
The DC attributed their success to the students’ talent and hard work, as well as the unwavering support and sacrifices of their parents and teachers.
Having crossed the secondary level, the students had now entered a new horizon of opportunities, she said.
Farida Khanam urged the students to view their SSC results not as a final destination but as the beginning of a long journey ahead.
As they enter the new chapter of higher secondary education, she encouraged them to become more curious, courageous and eager to learn.
She also advised them not to limit themselves to achieving GPA-5, but to develop their knowledge of information technology alongside human values and patriotism.
The DC encouraged the students to utilise their hidden talents and become people who could build successful careers while contributing to the development and prosperity of the country.
She further expressed hope that when the students became established in life, they would be able to look back and say that they had respected their dreams, valued their talents and tried to become good human beings.
The students and authorities of their respective educational institutions expressed enthusiasm after receiving the unexpected congratulatory letters and gifts from the district administration.
Farida Khanam said encouraging talented students was a responsibility of the administration.
“Encouraging talented students is our responsibility. Their success is not only a matter of pride for their families or educational institutions; it is also a matter of pride for Dhaka district.
Through this small gift and letter, I wanted to let them know that the district administration sincerely supports their talent and dreams.”
She said the district administration expected the students to develop themselves with human values, patriotism and a sense of responsibility, alongside achieving good academic results, so that they could eventually lead the country’s development.
A similar gesture had been made in 2002, when then Prime Minister Khaleda Zia directly wrote letters to students who had received talent-pool scholarships.
Two books were also sent as gifts to each of those students along with the letters.
