Shyamnagar LSD food godown lies abandoned as land grabbed
UNB, Satkhira :
Bhetkhali LSD food godown in Shyamnagar upazila of the district lies abandoned for the last 7 to 8 months as a structure has been built on its land illegally.
A local influential person named Humayun Kabir allegedly managed to take possession of the land by giving a shop to Fazlul Haque Morol, president of the Ramjannagar union unit of the ruling Awami League, as gift.
The government established the LSD food godown on 57 decimals of land at Bhetkhali in 1980-82 after acquiring the land from Mohammad Abul Hossain, father of Humayun, giving him compensation of Tk7,141.
Despite knowing everything, Humayun reportedly got the land registered in his name by his father on June 8, 2014.Nur-e-Alam, in-charge of the Bhetkhali godown, said Humayun erected bribed wire fence on the land by showing false documents.
On October 3, 2014, the government issued a notice to Humayun asking him to free the land.
Besides, another notice was also served to him on October 9, 2014 following the order of the upazila nirbahi officer. But he did not show any interest in any of the notices, claimed Nur-e-Alam.
Meanwhile, Humayun filed a writ petition to the Supreme Court on March 22, 2014 showing the land ministry secretary, deputy commissioner of Satkhira, Shyamnagar UNO and Koikhali land officer as complainants.
Later the SC passed a stay order for six months on the land following the writ. But ignoring the stay order, Humayun built a structure there, said Nur-e-Alam.
Noticing all these, the warehouse authorities filed a case against four people, including Humayun, with Shyamnagar Police Station on October 20, 2014.
Nur-e-Alam said now Humayun is threatening him publicly to take actions against him and served a legal notice to him (Nur-e-Alam).
Nur-e-Alam said Mia Manir Hossain, assistant superintendent of police (Kaliganj Circle), visited the spot and ordered immediate removal of the structure from the warehouse land.
But defying the order Humayun completed his construction work.Wishing not to be named, a local trader said Fazlul Haque Morol, president of the Ramjannagar union unit of Awami League, helped Humayun to complete his construction work on the grabbed land of the warehouse.
The construction work was done under the supervision of Fazlul, he alleged.
Humayun has set up a number of shops there and have already rented those out.
