The body of an old farmer named Samshul Alam (60) was recovered in Chunti Union of Lohagara, Chittagong. His body was found in the agricultural land in West Chunti Hadur Pahar area of Ward No. 2 of the Union on Wednesday (April 24) afternoon.
Samshul Alam, a farmer, is the son of deceased Chidda Mia of the same area and father of 8 children.
Locals said that there is a pepper field about half a kilometer away from the house. Farmer Samshul Alam went to work in the pepper field at around 7 in the morning and returned at around 12 noon. As he did not return within the specified time, his wife went to the field to inquire. At this time, she found his body lying in the field.
However, there is no sign of injury on the body of the dead body. It is believed that he died of heat stroke while working in the fields in intense heat.
