AL rules country using muscle power: BNP

Staff Reporter :
BNP senior leader Gayeshwar Chandra Roy said on Monday that ruling Awami Legue (AL) is surviving in power with atrocities and by using muscle power against oppositions.

He said it after visiting BNP Natore district unit’s joint convener, Dewan Shahin, at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) who is seriously injured as he was attackedby the Awami League leaders and activists recently.

“For the last 15 years, Natore BNP has been facing inhumane torture by AL.

Despite oppression, the leaders and activists did not leave the BNP.

The scenario of abuse of BNP men across Bangladesh is the same for Natore,,” he said.

Terming AL as an isolated political party, Gayeshwar said that without terrorist activities, they (AL) could not survive in politics.

“In this situation, we have to raise our voice and get ready to repay their brutality.”

Student politics on university campuses is not a problem; the issue is that student organisation control on campuses makes people worry about it. He said this in response to the journalist query.

“Student politics will remain in BUET or not; the decision will be taken by the university authority.

Because of that (Abrar Fahad killing), the BUET authority had banned student politics on campus; such a situation still exists or not and will influence them to change their decision.”

Gayeshwar, also a BNP standing committee member, said the situation at Jahangirnagar University was worse than at BUET.

In JU, Chatra League secretary Manik celebrated the ‘rape century’.

“It was a stigma for the nation.

But for AL, stigma is considered an ornament.”
He alleged that they are behaving carelessly as the administration, which already turned into AL party cadres, backs them up.

Replying to another query, the BNP leader said the government is waiting to hear the death news of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.

“Though a shadow of mourning will cover the whole country after hearing Begum Zia’s death news, I guess the sweetmeat will be distributed in Gano Bhaban.”

We have nothing to expect from this government. But what they are doing with the BNP chairperson will be considered a planned murder, he said.
