Natore’s Baraigram Upazila Awami League’s former president, Majhgaon Union ex-chairman brave freedom fighter Dr. Aynul Haque’s 22nd death anniversary was observed on Friday. On the day, garlands are laid at the graves of the deceased, discussion meetings, prayers and Iftar parties are organized.
Upazila Awami League president Abdul Quddus Miyaji presided over the discussion meeting held at Mahishbhanga, Bonpara Municipality’s village house and moderated by General Secretary Adv. Mizanur Rahman, son of the deceased and mayor of Bonpara Municipality KM Zakir Hossain, son-in-law Principal Abdur Razzak Molla, Upazila Chairman (in charge) Ataur Rahman Ata and others spoke there. Chairman of Baraigram UP. Momin Ali, Majhgaon UP Chairman Abdullah Al Azad Dulal, Awami League leaders and workers and local residents were present. The speakers demanded exemplary punishment for the killers of Dr. Aynul Haque in the pending case.
It is to be noted that on 28 March 2002, at around eight o’clock in the night, Dr. Aynul Haque was brutally beaten and stabbed by terrorists and left in a bloody state in Bonpara Government Women’s College area. Later, he was rescued and admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, where he died the next day on March 29 at around three o’clock in the afternoon.
