Bangladesh Women take on Bhutan in SAFF U-16 Champ

Spirited Bangladesh Under-16 Women’s Football team will take on Bhutan Under-16 Women’s Football team in their last group match of the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Under-16 Championship at the ANFA Complex in Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal today. The match will kick-off at 3:15pm (Bangladesh Standard Time).

Earlier, Bangladesh confirmed their final berth grabbing maximum six points from two matches. On the other hand, Bhutan were ousted from the title race.

On way to final, Bangladesh defeated Nepal by two goals to nil in their first match at the same venue on March 2. Sauravi Akanda Prity scored two goals for the red and green outfit.

Later, Bangladesh beat India by 3-1 goals in their second match at the same venue on March 5. Alpi Akter, Sauravi Akanda Prity and Arpita Biswas scored one goal each for Bangladesh. Anushka Kumari of India pulled off one.

Meanwhile, India stormed into the final thrashing Nepal by 10 goals to nil on Thursday.

Bangladesh will meet India in the final at the same venue on March 10.

Head Coach of Bangladesh Women’s Football team Saiful Bari Titu forbade her girls to become over confident. It is almost confirm that Titu will not set his best XI for today’s match.

Manager of Bangladesh Women’s Football team Amirul Islam Babu said, ” Our target was to play in the final. We advised our girls to understand that matter. Our girls fulfilled our expectations. Our next match is against Bhutan. But we are thinking about the final. I believe that our girls will get their result as they have worked hard. We are confident that we shall return to our country after bringing a good result.”

Bangladesh Under-16 Women’s Football team’s forward Alpi Akter could not score in the first match against Nepal. But she could score against India in the second match. She said, “I played the second match to score. I felt better after scoring in the second match. My target is to present better brand of football in the next matches. I want to develop my performance. We have reached the final. We want to return home after winning the final match.”
