Death toll in Bashan Char gas cylinder blast rises to five

Another Rohingya child, who suffered burn injuries in a gas cylinder blast at Bashan Char Rohingya camp on Saturday (February 24) died at Chattogram Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) last night, taking the death toll from the incident to five.
The victim was identified as Rusmida, 03, daughter of Abdur Shukkur of Bashan Char Rohingya Camp.
Rusmida succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment at CMCH last night around 11pm, said Noakhali Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Asaduzzaman. The child suffered 52 percent burn injuries in the blast. On Saturday (February 24), nine people were injured when a gas cylinder exploded at the Rohingya camp in Bashan Char area.

65-year-old man burned to death in Naogaon fire

A 65-year-old man was burned to death in a fire in Badalgachhi upazila of Naogaon early Friday. The deceased was Altaf Hossain, son of the late Tasir Uddin of Gorshahi Moddyho para village of the upazila.
The victim’s son, Tariqul Islam, said his father used to sleep in a house in front of their yard. Locals noticed a fire in his father’s house early Friday and started screaming. Hearing this, they came out of the house and found the fire.
Though the flame was doused with the help of locals, later, his father died, and two goats, and other valuables were found burned to ashes, he said.

Fire at under-construction cold storage in Ctg under control

A fire that broke out in an under-construction cold storage in the Bakolia area of the port city of Chattogram on Friday morning was brought under control. Abdullah Harun Pasha, deputy assistant director of Chattogram Fire Service and Civil Defence, said the fire erupted at under-construction Taja Multipurpose Cold Storage of ‘S Alam Group’ on Bakolia Express Road in Bakolia around 10:30 am.
On information, four firefighting units from several stations rushed to the spot and brought the flames under control around 1:35 pm, he said.

One killed, eight injured in Gazipur factory fire

A man was killed and eight others were injured in a fire at a intelligent card manufacturing factory in Dhirashram Bararul area of Gazipur metropolis on Wednesday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Likhon Miah, 24, a resident of Gaibandha district. He was an employee of the factory. Abdullah-Al Arefin, Deputy Assistant Director of Gazipur Fire Service, said the fire broke out at the intelligent card manufacturing factory in the Dhirasram Bararul area following a blast while setting a machine around 1:45 pm this afternoon, leaving Likhon dead on the spot and eight others injured, including a Chinese national.

11 shops gutted in Lakshmipur fire

At least eleven shops were gutted in a fire at Joksin Purbo Bazar of Sadar upazila on Wednesday.
The fire originated from an electric short circuit at a shop of the Bazar around 12:30pm and soon engulfed the adjacent business establishments, as a result eleven shops were gutted, Deputy Director of Laxmipur Fire Service and Civil Defense Station Mohammad Abdul Mannan said.
