10 members of teen gang held in capital: Not only teen gangs, ‘big brothers’ to be arrested too: DMP

The Detective Branch (DB) of Mohammadpur zonal team under Tejgaon Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 10 members of the teen gang after raiding Taj Mahal Road, Geneva Camp, Basila and surrounding areas of Mohammadpur in the capital.
According to DB, the arrested were divided and committed various crimes including snatching and robbery in different areas of Mohammadpur.
The arrested are – Raja (35), Md. Jalal (25), Md. Mridul (26), Md. Jahangir (35), Md. Shamim Mia (24), Md. Shahid (25), Md. Shimul (25), Md. Monirul Islam (27), Md. Sohail Khan (23) and Noor Mohammad (20). Multiple cases have been filed against each of those arrested. Among them are 11 cases against Raja and four cases against Mridul.
DMP Additional Commissioner (Detective) Mohammad Harun Or Rashid said these at his office on Minto Road in the capital on Thursday afternoon.
He said that youth gang members are very active in Uttara and Mohammadpur of the capital. The members of these groups are involved in various crimes including theft and robbery.
Because of them the local residents are fed up. Many people have been complaining to the detective police that members of these teen gangs snatch mobile phones from the bus and car during day board light.
Based on these allegations, the Tejgaon Division of the DB arrested 10 members of the juvenile gang on Wednesday. At this time, several indigenous weapons were also recovered from them.
Not only teen gangs but also their elder brothers will be brought under the law, he added.
