Home Minister says: We have nothing to do with BNP leaders’ bail

Staff Reporter :
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said that the government has nothing to do with the bailout of BNP leaders.

He said this in response to a question from journalists at the Ministry of Home Affairs at the Secretariat on Thursday.

Replying to another question, the minister said, “This time they (BNP) did not participate in the election.

So they can’t claim to be the opposition now. They are like another political party, as there are many smaller parties.”

He mentioned that the BNP leaders were in jail for various reasons. The judge thought they should be bailed; he granted them bail; there is nothing we can do or say.

Responding to reporters’ questions on the Myanmar issue, the minister said 330 border guard police, military, and government officials who were close to our country’s border by 10–15 miles entered Bangladesh.

Our country kept them in one place and informed Myanmar about this matter. We took measures to send them back to their country through discussion by our Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Home minister said that they had been sent back through a very good atmosphere.

We will not allow anyone to enter here; we will not let anyone inside our borders. We think everyone will live in their own country.

He also said, “We have sheltered many Rohingya people; we are also asking them and the Myanmar government, and also asking all the countries in the world to strengthen the Rohingyas repatriation measures to return them to their own country as soon as possible.”

We request everyone. We think our efforts will continue.
