DITF gets Tk 392cr export order

The 28th edition of the Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) has received export orders worth TK391.82 crore, which is 17.25 per cent higher than last year.

Apart from this, goods worth approximately Tk400 crore were sold at the fair, which is about 15 per cent more than last year’s fair sales, the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) said in a press release after the closing ceremony of the DITF on Tuesday.

The EPB organised the closing ceremony at the fair venue at Purbachal’s Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre in the capital.

Speaking as the chief guest at the ceremony, State Minister for Commerce Ahsanul Islam Titu said, “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has declared handicrafts as ‘product of the year’.”

Our goal is to bring up one lakh artisans across the country in the next one year. We will foster at least one handicraftsman in every village by giving them necessary support and training” he added.

According to the State Minister, “If we do everything right, the country’s target of $100 billion in export earnings by 2030 can be achieved.”

Trophies were awarded to the best pavilions, stall and organizations in various categories at the closing ceremony.

Dhaka International Trade Fair is being organized since 1995 by the Ministry of Commerce and Export Promotion Bureau.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the Dhaka International Trade Fair-2024 on January 21.
