Shab-e-Barat on Feb 25

Staff Reporter :
In an announcement filled with spiritual anticipation, the Islamic Foundation has declared that Shab-e-Barat, the revered night of fortune, will be celebrated across Bangladesh on February 25.

This significant date was determined following the sighting of the new moon, marking the onset of the holy month of Shaban in the Hijri calendar year 1445.

The National Moon Sighting Committee, under the leadership of Md Abdul Awal Hawlader, the Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, met and confirmed the appearance of the new crescent in the sky over Bangladesh.

According to a press release from the Islamic Foundation, the month of Shaban is set to begin from tomorrow (Monday), culminating in the observance of Shab-e-Barat on the night of February 25.

Shab-e-Barat is deeply ingrained in Islamic culture as one of the three most spiritually significant nights.

It is a time when Muslims believe that God Almighty decides the fate of all individuals, including their sustenance and fortunes for the year ahead.

Devotees throughout Bangladesh will engage in various acts of worship on this holy night, including special prayers, recitation of the Holy Quran, milad, zikir, and other religious practices, all aimed at soliciting God’s mercy and blessings for humanity’s well-being.
