Three Bangladeshis get ‘Study UK Alumni Awards’

Three Bangladeshis received the Study UK Alumni Awards 2023-24 at a ceremony hosted by the British Council on Thursday.

The awardees were recognized for their outstanding achievements as business professionals, entrepreneurs, and community leaders, and for their contribution to strengthening ties between the UK and Bangladesh, the British Council said, reports media.

Prof Khondaker A Mamun, a graduate of University of Southampton, received the award in the business and innovation category.

He is an AI researcher and Founder of AIMS Lab at UIU and has over 200 articles and numerous patents under his name.

Dr Kamrun Koly, a graduate of London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and King’s College London, received the award under the science and sustainability category.

She is an associate scientist and mental health researcher of the icddr,b. She has been recognized with multiple research and social awards including Mujib-100 years research grant for women and Inspiring women volunteer by United Nations, Bangladesh.
