Review meeting on progress of dev projects in Ctg

Housing and Public Works Minister AM Ubaidul Moktadir Chowdhury, MP urged to take advice of local people representatives in all development activities of the government. He made this call in the chief guest’s speech at a review meeting on the progress of various development projects being implemented under Chittagong Development Authority, Public Works Directorate Chittagong Zone and National Housing Authority Chittagong in the conference room of Chittagong Circuit House on Thursday.
He said that the advice of public representatives makes the development activities fast, people-oriented, successful and worthwhile.
Taking their advice and involving them in development activities is one of the prerequisites for ensuring transparency and accountability. In his speech, the minister said that the development activities of the government should be motivated by patriotism by giving the highest priority to public welfare. All existing laws and regulations in the workplace must be properly followed.
He emphasized on the coordination of all departments including CDA, Chittagong City Corporation, Directorate of Public Works and National Adoption Authority in the development activities of Chittagong city.
Emphasizing on environmental protection, he said that one should be careful in implementing development activities by filling water bodies.
The project must be implemented by protecting the environment. He emphasized on inclusion of planning circles in all departmental organizations especially in integrated development projects.
Before implementing the development project, he drew the attention of the stakeholders to review the social and environmental impact of the project. Before undertaking any project, he stressed the importance of reviewing the potential problems of the project and preparing for its possible solutions.
