Tk 5,000 fined for selling prawns stuffed with jelly

A mobile court fined a fish trader to Tk. 5,000 or sentenced him to 10 days imprisonment in default for selling lobster mixed with jelly, harmful to the human body.
Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer Mohammad Alam said at around on Monday night, the Directorate of Fisheries and the Upazila administration conducted a joint operation and seized 10 kg of lobster mixed with prohibited jelly, which is harmful to the human body.
At that time, the fish trader was placed before the mobile court led by upazila assistant commissioner Ummey Imama Banin who sentenced Sohel Fakir, son of Chan Mia Fakir, the fish trader of Nagarbari village, to a fine of 5 thousand taka or 10 days of imprisonment in default for the crime of selling lobster mixed with jelly.
The court also ordered the confiscation of jelly-laced lobster and to destroy that. Accordingly the jelly-laced lobsters were doused with kerosene and the fish trader Sohail Fakir went free after paying a fine.
