Brick field workers fined for lifting river bank soil

A mobile court has detained 15 workers, fined seven and a half lakh taka and seized 3 trawlers for cutting river bank soil for brick kiln in Babugonjupazila of Barishal. The workers said that they were working for Fatema Bricks in Babuganj.
On Friday (January 12) afternoon, on the basis of secret information, a raid led by UNO of Babuganjwas carried out on the banks of Arial Khan river near Zambia Khatun Madrasa and Kashiganj market in Kedarpur Union of the upazila and detaining the labours were fined.
The detained are Amirul Islam (23), Babul Gain (27), Sirajul Islam (36), Monirul Sardar (40), Zakir Gazi (25), Shaheen Sardar (36), Asadul (35), Yakub (30) from Asashuni upazila of Satkhira district, Nazrul Islam (45), Raihan Sardar (40), Monirul Islam (42), Al Amin (34), Asadul (36), Yunuch (51) and Ajir (35) from different upazilas of Barishal.
