More than half a dozen of countries, including India, China and Russia, have greeted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her overwhelming victory in the 12th parliamentary election.
Congratulating Hasina, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi renewed his commitment to further boost the bilateral relations between the two nations in the days to come.
“We are committed to further strengthen our enduring and people-centric partnership with Bangladesh,” Modi wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Monday.
“I also congratulate the people of Bangladesh for the successful conduct of elections,” he further said.
Though the Western countries are yet to comment, some other countries including China, Russia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Maldives and other South Asian countries have congratulated Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on her election victory and reiterated their commitment to work together for stronger bilateral relations.
The envoys of the Philippines, Singapore and Sri Lanka also paid courtesy calls separately on Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official residence Ganabhaban on Monday morning.
On behalf of their respective countries, they congratulated Hasina on her party’s absolute victory in Sunday’s 12th National Parliamentary Election, according to a release from PM’s press wing.
The prime minister thanked them and sought their cooperation in the development and advancement of Bangladesh.
The international community closely watched the election held on Sunday and foreign missions stationed in Dhaka have reportedly shared their reports based on their independent observations with their respective headquarters.
