Junior Tigers off to South Africa

Bangladesh Under-19 Cricket team left the city on Sunday night for South Africa to take part in the ICC Under-19 World Cup.
A total of 16 teams splitting into four groups will take part in the ICC Under-19 World Cup, the most prestigious cricket meet for the junior cricketers of the world. Earlier, Bangladesh emerged the champions in the ICC Under-19 World 2020 defeating stronger India in the final. India are now the defending champions.
Bangladesh, India, United States of America and Ireland are in Group-A. The Junior Tigers will start their World Cup campaign as they take on India on January 20. Bangladesh will face Ireland in their second match on January 22, the Junior Tigers will face United States of America on January 26.
South Africa, England, West Indies, Scotland are in Group-B, Australia, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Namibia are in Group-C, Afghanistan, Nepal, New Zealand, Pakistan are in Group-D.
It may be mentioned that Bangladesh Under-19 Cricket team clinched the title of the Under-19 Asia Cup at the United States of America recently. So, the Junior Tigers are in a festive mood and they are not in under pressure.
Before leaving the country for South Africa, Batting Coach of Bangladesh Under-19 Cricket team Wasim Jaffer said, ” My boys are now very much spirited. They prepared themselves after taking part in a hard practice.”
He said, ” I don’t need that they will play in under pressure. I expect they will think about the results. They emerged as the champions in the Under-19 Asia Cup after followed that spirit. Bangladesh for the first time earned this feat. So, we have to depend on them.”
