Supporters of independent picks burn 2 offices of Boat in Patiya

It has been alleged that supporters of independent candidate Samshul Haque Chowdhury set fire to two election offices of Boat symbol in Patiya upazila. At that time, the pictures of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the boat symbolizing the liberation war were also burnt. On Thursday (January 4) night, two election offices of Bhandargaon in Ward No. 5 of Kashiaish Union of Upazila and Alamdarpara of Ward No. 5 of Chanhara Union were set on fire. Locals said that at one stage of the attack, the attackers left the scene to chant slogans in favor of independent candidates.
Kashiyish Union Parishad Chairman Abul Kasem said that after he returned to his home in Chittagong city at night, he found out that the independent candidate’s people had set fire to the boat candidate’s office at night. As the burnt office is located in a minority-dominated area, there is now panic among the minority community. After calling 999 at night to ask for police assistance, a police team rushed to the scene.
