Mirzapur set to ready for vote amid tight security

Center-to-centre polling equipment was distributed amid tight security in Mirzapur, Tangail, amid a festive atmosphere. This voting equipment was handed over to the presiding officer, assistant presiding officer, polling agent, police and members of Ansar forces from the Upazila Parishad auditorium Saturday amid tight security.
At that time Assistant Returning Officer and Upazila Executive Officer Shakila Binte Matin, AC (Land) Masudur Rahman and Election Officer Sharifa Begum were present. Ballot papers will go to the centers tomorrow morning. According to upazila election office sources, the 12th national parliament election will be held tomorrow, Sunday, January 7. Mirzapur upazila has a municipality and 14 unions with a total of 351 thousand 432 voters. Among them 1 lakh 83 thousand 209 male and 1 lakh 78 thousand 223 are female voters. Total number of centers is 127 and number of rooms is 718. The administration has completed all preparations to make the elections fair and peaceful. Assistant Returning Officer and Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shakila Binte Mateen said that members of the law enforcement agencies of different organizations including the striking force, army, BGB, police, RAB will work regularly.
