Arson attacks in vote centre, AL election office in Barishal

There are reports of arson incidents in two spots including vote center and AL election office in Barishal-2 and 5 constituencies, but police claims those as rumours. Eyewitnesses said that these fire incidents were happened on Friday late night and early Saturday. Ward-12 Awami League election office in Barishal city and two polling stations of Wazirpur upazila were reported to be set on fire. Tutul Chowdhury, convener of ward No. 12 of Barisal city, Awami League’s election management committee said the night watchman of the office saw the fire and extinguished it around 4:30 AM. In this incident, the table, banner and clothes of election office were burnt. A bottle of petrol was also found at the spot. Due to thick fog in the morning, it was not possible to see who set the fire. After the incident, RAB, police and BGB visited the spot, Tutul said. But Kotwali Police Station OC Arichul Haque said, “I don’t know about this incident.” In another incident, miscreants set fire to a room of Sapania Government Primary School in Charbaria Union of Barishal Sadar Upazila.
