Former JaPa MP Milon boycotts poll

Prof Nurul Islam Milon, an independent candidate in Comilla-8 (Barura) and former Jatiya Party lawmaker, has decided to boycott Sunday’s general election.

He made the announcement at a press conference at his electoral camp in the College Road area in Barura upazila at noon on Saturday, reports media.

Milon said he made the decision as the election environment is “unfavourable,” adding that he has submitted a complaint to the returning officer. After the election, he will address his activists and media personnel to convey his message to the people of Barura.

Former Barura upazila Jatiya Party president Abdul Bari, general secretary Akhtaruzzaman Bhuiyan, JaPa leaders Abu Yusuf Manik, Rafiqul Islam and others were present.
