Asiatic Society observes 72nd founding anniv

Asiatic Society of Bangladesh (ASB) observed its 72nd founding anniversary on Wednesday with great enthusiasm and colorful festivity.

A great number of renowned Professors, Researchers and other members of the society gathered at the society’s premises early in the winter’s morning to celebrate the day.

The programme was inaugurated by flying up balloons and pigeons after hoisting the National flag and the Society’s flag with National anthems.

The Asiatic Society is a leading research organization in Bangladesh which was founded on 3rd January, 1952.

Apart from the dissemination of knowledge and research, work is done here to nurture and develop democracy, ethics, and human values.

Eminent Professor Abdul Momin Chowdhury, former Vice-Chancellor of National University and honourable Fellow of ASB, delivered the Foundation Day Lecture on Dr. Muhammad Shahidullah : Multi-linguist-teacher and Philosopher.

Prof Mohammad Siddiqur Rahman Khan delivered welcome address where Professor Emeritus KhondokerBazlul Hoque, President of the Society, presided over the programme.

Prof Abdul Motin narrated the rich history of life and contribution of Dr Muhammad Shahidullah and mentioned his opulent wisdom on different languages.
