Bashundhara Kings win in opener

Bashundhara Kings won their opening match of the Federation Cup Football beating Fortis Club by a solitary goal at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium in Gopalganj on Tuesday.

Bashundhara’s Brazilian recruit Dorielton scored the all-important goal in the 11th minute of the match. Dorielton got the ball from a long pass of his teammate Tutul Hossain at the D-Box of Fortis Club and the Brazilian forward made no mistake to found the net.

Bashundhara’s defender Topu Barman and their dependable goalkeeper Anisur Rahman returned to the field after their temporary banned. Anisur Rahman showed a spectacular display for his team and Bashundhara left the field with a victory.

Meanwhile, favourites Bangladesh Police Football Club drew 2-2 goals with Rahmatganj MFS at the Bir Shreshtha Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj on the same day.

The first half was locked 1-1.

Sahed Mia of Bangladesh Police Football Club put his team ahead in the 18th minute of the match.

Rahmatgan’s Ghanaian recruit Samuel leveled the margin by a header using a corner kick of his teammate in the 41st minute of the game.

After the lemon-break, Garcia of Bangladesh Police Football Club made it 2-1 by a penalty kick in the 68th minute of the game.

Bangladesh Police Football Club failed to keep their lead for a long period as Rahmatganj’s Ghanaian forward Boateng equalized the margin in the 76th minute of the match.
