Seven injured in AL, independent candidate clash in Kalapara

There was a clash between the supporters of Boat symbol candidate Principal Mohibbur Rahman and independent candidate of Eagle symbol Mahbubur Rahman. The incident took place on Friday night in Barkatiya village of Dalbuganj union under Mohipur police station of Kalapara upazila under Patuakhali district. At least 7 people were injured in the clash on both sides. After the incident, Mahipur Thana police visited the spot.
A case and counter-case has been filed at the Mahipur police station in this incident. Among the seven injured Boat worker Mohipur Thana Chhatra League president Swaib Khan and Mamun Faraji have been sent to Barishal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital for better treatment.
Besides injured upazila BCL Vice President Emdad Khan Babu and 3 people are undergoing treatment at the Upazila Health Complex.
According to police and local sources, on Friday afternoon, the supporters of the Boat symbol left for a meeting in the nearby Chapali Bazar yard after running campaign playing Bangabandhu’s speech on the sound box.
At the same time, the supporters of the Eagles played Hindi songs on another sound box. Then Swaib Khan forbade disturbing by playing Hindi songs during the campaign of the Boat.
When there was an argument about this, at one point both sides got involved in clash. Mohipur Police Station OC Anwar Hossain Talukder said that the situation is currently under the control of the police. In this incident, both parties have filed a written complaint. Action will be taken after investigation.
