Rabindra University observes Martyred Intellectuals Day

The Martyred Intellectuals Day was observed at Rabindra University on Thursday with due dignity and solemnity. On the occasion of the day, there were various programs throughout the day, including the half-masting of the national flag. At 10:30 in the morning, University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Md. Shah Azam. Tributes were paid by various organizations including the University Teachers’ Association, Bangabandhu Parishad, and the students’ residence. After observing 1 minute silence to pay respect to the martyrs, a discussion meeting was held highlighting the significance of Martyr Intellectuals Day.
In the speech of the chief guest, the Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Shah Azam said, this massacre started before 1971 and continued even in independent Bangladesh. In 1975, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu was killed in his family, four national leaders were killed,
All this is part of the well-planned activities of the anti-independence forces and the domestic allies of the Pakistanis. The younger generation does not have a full understanding of those whom we have gathered here today to pay tribute to, he said with pain.
Therefore, I think it is the responsibility of the teachers to inspire the young generation with the valor and ideals of the sun children of the nation through reading. He reminded the younger generation of the responsibility, saying, “You will never forgive the killers of the sun children of the nation.”
University Registrar Md. Sohrab Ali, president of the teachers’ association. Md. Fakhrul Islam, chairpersons of various departments, teachers and students were present there. At the end of the discussion meeting there was a cultural program performed by the teachers and students of Rabindra University.
