Bangladesh Cricket team defeated New Zealand (NZ) XI by 26 runs in their warm-up match at Lincoln in New Zealand on Thursday.
Batting first Bangladesh piled up a mammoth total of 334 in 49.5 overs and then all out New Zealand XI for 308 off 49.2 overs. Promising Rishad Hossain was the most successful batter of his team. He cracked a terrific 87. His 54-ball knock had 11 fours and four sixers. Later, he claimed three wickets for 26 runs.
Bangladesh had a good start with the two openers Tanzid Hasan and Anamul Haque put on together 47 runs before Anamul Haque (33) was bowled out by Joey Field.
After Anamul’s dismissal, Tanzid Hasan and second-down Soumya Sarkar contributed together 101 runs for the second wicket partnership before Tanzid Hasan was dismissed by Nikith Perera when Bangladesh’s total was 148 for the loss of two wickets.
Tanzid Hasan hit a respectable 58. His 46-ball innings was studded with four sixers and five fours.
After Tanzid’s departure, Soumya Sarkar was dismissed by Samrath Singh when the tourists’ score was 170 for the loss of three wickets.
Soumya notched up a sparkle 59. He hit eight fours and a sixer in his 56-ball knock.
Litton Das and Rishad Hossain built a worthy partnership. They contributed together 70 runs in the six-wicket stand before Litton Das was dismissed by Samrath Singh when the Tigers’ total was 254 for the loss of six wickets.
Litton Das hit a notable 55. His 63-ball innings was belted with five fours and a sixer.
After Litton’s departure, Rishad Hossain and Hasan Mahmud added together 43 runs for the ninth wicket stand before Hasan Mahmud (8) was caught behind by wicketkeeper Ben Pomare off Joey Field when the visitors’ score was 314 for the loss of nine wickets.
Rishad Hossain was caught behind by Pomare off James Hartshorm when Bangladesh’s innings came to an end.
Samrath Singh was his team’s most successful bowler with four wickets for 73 runs.
One-down Bharat Popli and fourth-down Sandeep Patel shone with the willow.
Popli hit a captain’s knock of 92. He hit 13 fours in his 90-ball innings.
Patel struck 89. His 77-ball innings was decorated with 11 fours and two sixes.
Afif Hossain grabbed three wickets instead of 52 runs respectively, while Hasan Mahmud bagged two wickets in the space of 36 runs.
Tanzim Hasan and Rakibul Hasan took one wicket each for 48 and 61 runs respectively.
