Diplomatic missions in Dhaka reaffirm human rights for all

Fourteen diplomatic missions stationed in Dhaka have reconfirmed their support to and solidarity with those that work to defend and advance human rights, fundamental freedoms and equality for all.
In a joint diplomatic statement, they have also highlighted the fundamental role democracy plays in protecting human rights and promoting development.
The diplomatic missions came up with the joint statement on Sunday on the occasion of the International Human Rights Day.
The signatories of the statement are the Embassies/High Commissions of Australia, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States, and the delegation of the European Union.
“On the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, we reconfirm our support and solidarity with those that work to defend and advance human rights. Our commitment to the principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights is unwavering,” the statement said.
This unified statement underscores the collaborative efforts of the international community to champion human rights and promote the values enshrined in the Universal Declaration.
As the world marks this significant milestone, the diplomatic missions in Dhaka stand united in their commitment to advancing the cause of human rights for the betterment of societies worldwide.
However, these missions on different occasions had talked about the human rights situation in Bangladesh as well as the political space for the oppositions to express their dissent voices.
