BCL leaders ‘assault’ three DU students
DU Correspondent :
Three Dhaka University (DU) students were allegedly beaten at Shahid Serjeant Zahurul Huq Hall by two Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leaders on Wednesday mid-night.
DU sources said after the accident the students logged a written complaint with the provost yesterday seeking justice.
The victims are Abdullah Al Pavel of Japanese Studies Department, Khaled Saifullah of Islamic Studies Department and Onmi Rahman of Management Department. All of them are students of 2020-21 academic session.
The accused included Noor Uddin Ahmed, a student of Population Science Department and former joint secretary of BCL central committee and Abdullah Al Muntasir Shubo, a student of Political Science Department and former vice-president of Zahurul Huq Hall unit.
Both are students of 2017-18 session and aspirant leader of the hall.
Earlier this year, the two BCL leaders released on bail after suffering three months in jail on charges of looting in Suhrawardy Udyan of the capital.
“Nur Uddin Pavel and Muntasir Shubo were misbehaving and torturing us for the past few days.
On Wednesday, Nur Uddin Pavel called us to talk at the bike stand and started abusing us and at one point they slapped and kicked us,” the victims mentioned in the written complaint.
However, accused Nur Uddin denied the allegation saying they did not assault except giving warning for their misconduct with senior students.
