Rahmatganj MFS in semis of Independence Cup Football

Old-Dhaka based outfit Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society (MFS) reached the semi-finals of the Independence Cup Football defeating Bangladesh Police Football Club by 2-1 goals in their quarter-final match at the Bashundhara Kings Arena in the capital on Sunday.
All the three goals were scored in the first-half.
Police Football Club’s Edward Morillo was roughly charged at the danger zone of Rahmatganj MFS by a defender of the Old-Dhaka based outfit in the 22nd minute of the match. Thus, the referee awarded a penalty-kick in favour of Bangladesh Police Football Club. Edis Ibargiien of Bangladesh Police Football Club made not mistake to put his team ahead by a spectacular spot-kick.
Mensah Samuel Koney of Rahmatganj MFS equalized the margin by an entertaining volley shot in the 28th minute of the match.
After three minutes, Mesbah Samuel Koney of Rahmatrganj MFS tapped the ball in to the blank net which ball he got on his way from a header of his teammate Iskandar Siddikzhonov. Islandar got the ball from a free-kick of his teammate Sushanto Tripura.
The match between Bangladesh Police Football Club and Rahmatganj MFS was a tight tussle from the very beginning.
Bangladesh Police got the early chance in the 10th minute of the match.
Manas Karipov’s spectacular shot was saved by Rahmatganj goalie Mohammed Nayeem.
In the 20th minute, Mesbah Samuel Koney’s header was bounced back from the crosspiece but a defender of Rahmatganj MFS cleared the ball to save his team from danger.
Rahmatganj MFS retained the lead after the second goal of the outfit and left the field with a hard-fought victory.
In the other two quarterfinals matches on Tuesday (Dec 5), Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited will play against Chittagong Abahani Limited in the third quarter-final match at Birshreshtha Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj at 1.45pm, while Bashundhara Kings will face Bangladesh Army Football team in the fourth quarterfinal game at Bashundhara Kings Arena in the capital at 4.00pm.
