4 new faces out of 6 seats in Barishal

In upcoming 12th National Assembly Election-2024, Bangladesh Awami League General Secretary and Minister of Roads and Bridges Obaidul Quader has announced the nomination of Awami League candidates for the 6 seats in Barishal district including the two which were placed by Jatiya Party alliance in the previous parliament.

Central Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader ceremonially announced the names of the candidates nominated for 6 constituencies in Barishal on Sunday (November 26) afternoon.

Maternal nephew of Bangobandhu, former chief-whip and running lawmaker Barishal District Awami League President Abul Hasanat Abdullah was selected for Barishal-1 (Agoiljhara-Gournadi) constituency.

For Barishal-2 constituency (Wazirpur-Banaripara) running lawmaker former Central Chhatra League President Shahe Alam was dropped and Barishal district AL general secretary Advocate Talukdar Md. Yunus has again been nominated for this seat for Boat candidate.

For Barishal-3 (Babuganj-Muladi) seat, the lawmaker of 10th and 11th parliament was occupied by the JaPa as the alliance member with AL.

This time Babuganj upazila AL president Khalid Hossain Swapan was nominated as AL candidate For Barishal-4 (Hijla – Mehendiganj) constituency former 2-time Member of Parliament Pankaj Nath was replaced by Shammi Akhter, daughter of International Affairs Secretary and daughter of former district AL President Mohiuddin Ahmed.

In Barishal-5(Sadar upazila) Constituency current Member of Parliament and Minister of State for Water Resources Colonel (retd) Zahid Farooq Shamim has been re-nominated by AL for working adjusting with elected BCC Mayor Serniabat Abul Khair Abdullah alias Khokon Serniabat.

For Barishal-6 (Bakerganj) seat was occupied by the JaPa of AL alliance for 3 times, this time it created a surprise by nominating Major General (Rtd) Hafiz Mallik, who has been in Awami League for a long time, for the first time.
