Extradition of 42 trafficked Bangladeshi from India

The Indian government has repatriated 42 Bangladeshis who entered India through illegal means through the process of repatriation. Among them, 40 are women and children.
On Friday (November 24), at the end of the formalities of the paperwork, the Indian Immigration Police handed over the repatriates to the Bangladesh Checkpost Immigration Police at Petrapole in West Bengal, India.
The victims of trafficking stated that they fell into the trap of brokers in the lure of good jobs and entered India through unauthorized routes along the border. Later, the brokers abandoned them there. The Indian police arrested them and sent them to jail. After serving various terms in jail, the 42 Bangladeshis involved in trafficking are returning home.
However, Bangladeshis deported in this way through various routes are brought back to their country through the repatriation process of the two countries’ Ministries of Home Affairs through communication. Justice and Care, a women’s legal aid organization, and Jashore Rides will facilitate their transfer to their respective families.
