Maidandighi Bazar Bhaban in Bhangura still in limbo

At least two years have passed since Maidandighi Bazar Bhaban of Khanmarich Union of Bhangura Upazila of Pabna was inaugurated but it has not been opened, anger has arisen among the traders. It is reported that the local government department started the construction of a two-storey building here in July 2019 under the Countrywide Rural Market Infrastructure Development Project and completed it in 2020. It costs 1 crore 56 lakh taka. In the month of February 2022, local Member of Parliament Md. Mokbul Hossain officially inaugurated the building. Even after this almost two years have passed but the market building is still not opened. Because of this, traders cannot enter the building.
Zainul Abedin, President of Maidandighi Shop Owners Association and businessman Khabir Uddin said that many of them have applied for the use of 14 rooms in Bazar Bhavan. But no one has been allotted till now. Both traders and consumers are deprived of the benefits of this infrastructure.
Upazila Engineer Afroza Parveen said that the building has been constructed on time and the authorities have been given an understanding. Now the upazila administration will allot to those, they will manage the business in this building.
