Three buses torched in Mirpur, Motijheel, Paltan

At least three buses, including the BRTC double decker, were torched in three separate places in the capital on Monday, the last day of 48-hour hartal enforced by the BNP and its allies.
In Motijheel, unidentified people set fire on a staff bus of Sonali Bank on Monday afternoon.
However, no casualties were reported in this connection.
Ershad Hossain, Duty Officer at Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters, told the media on Monday evening that: “A double-decker staff bus of Sonali Bank was set on fire in front of Modhumita Cinema Hall around 4:30 pm. The bus was waiting to take staff of the central bank.”
However, it was still unclear who has actually set fire on the vehicle.
It was learnt that local people, being informed, rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control.
On information, police and RAB personnel along with fire service men visited the spot.
In Paltan, arsonists posing as passengers torched a bus of ‘Tanjeel Paribahan’ in Paltan area around 5:10pm. However, no casualties were reported as all passengers got out safely.
Passengers got off the bus in Paltan after they saw flames at the back of the bus. Pedestrians later doused the blaze, he said.
In Mirpur, a BRTC double decker bus was set on fire in the afternoon.
The incident took place at around 2.30pm in Mirpur-10.
Being informed, two firefighting units rushed to the spot around 2:35pm and doused the flame within 10 minutes, said Shahjahan Sardar, senior station officer of Mirpur Fire Station.
