Attack on Santal people in Parbatipur
Case filed against 3074 people after 4 days

A case has been filed finally on Wednesday night, after four days of the brutal incident on arson, looting and vandalism on Santal community of Parbatipur upazila of Dinajpur .
Nilima Hembram, daughter of Joshef Hembram , an affected woman of Habibpur Chirakutipara village under Parbatipur upazila of Dinajpur filed the case with Parbatipur police station on Wednesday night.
In the case she accused 74 people while 3000 were unidentified.
In the case it also mentioned that properties worth Tk 10 lakh were damaged.
Mahbubur Alam, OC , Parbatipur confirmed it saying that police yet to arrest any person in connection with the incident despite several raids.
‘A woman of the affected village has filed the case as the male have been staying away from home ‘, said Chunnu Tudu, President of Phulbari Upazila Adivasi Unnayan Samity.
On the other hand, Entalus Tudu was arrested on Saturday last along with more 18 Santal men, got bail on Thursday from Dinajpur court for appear at the SSC examination under Dinajpur Education Board to be started on February 2.
Adv Sirajum Munira, Coordinator of Blast unit and lawyers of Ain O Shalish Kendra assisted for his bail.
The judge of the court granted his bail unto his SSC examination.
Meherul Islam, Public Prosecutor played a positive role for the bail, said Munira
Besides, it is a fifth day of the inhuman attack on the 55 Santal families at Habibpur Chirakutipara village under Parbatipur upazila of Dinajpur, but the affected people yet to repair there damaged houses.
During a visit to affected village it was found the female along with their children gathered crammed in several houses as it has been raining since Thursday morning.
On the other hand, several hundred indigenous people of six upazilas of Dinajpur including Phulbari, Birampur, Nawabganj, Hakimpur, Ghoraghat and Parbatipur besieged the Upazila Nirbahi Office (UNO) of Phulbari on Thursday starting from 1.00pm. A human chain was also formed inside the complex amid daylong drizzling.
Later, a memorandum with six- point demands has been submitted to the Home Minister through Md. Moniruzzaman, UNO of Phulbari .
The 4-point demand include cancellation of fake land documents of Jahrul Islam and handing over the land documents unconditionally to respective ethnic people land owners, arrest of Jahrul Islam and exemplary punishment to the people responsible for arson, looting and damaging houses of the ethnic minority, proper compensation of affected people and ensure security for them and separate ministry and land commission for ethnic minority.
At the human chain at Phulbari UNO office complex, the speakers alleged that the inhuman incident could have been averted if local administration wanted.
