16 opposition men held in Ishwardi

Ishwardi police arrested 16 people including leaders of BNP, Chhatra Dal, Swachha Sevak Dal, Jamiat Islam and Chhatra Shibir in Ishwardi. They were arrested by conducting raids in different areas of the upazila. On Friday afternoon, the arrested were sent to Pabna Jail.
According to police sources, they have been arrested on charges of sabotage and anti-national conspiracy in Ishwardi during the ongoing strike-blockade. There are several previous cases against them. Arobindo Sarkar, OC of Ishwardi police station, confirmed the arrest and said that there was a previous case of sabotage against the arrested persons in the police station. Because of this they have been arrested.
