Happy birthday to Runa Laila, pride of country’s music arena

Today is the birthday of Runa Laila, a living legendary singer, music composer and pride in the music scene of Bangladesh. Today she is crossing 70 and stepping on 71.
Although there is no special arrangement for her birthday, Runa Laila has already left for Kolkata. Her husband, actor Alamgir, is with her.
However, since she will not be in the country, her birthday was celebrated in advance for a special reason on November 10 at a restaurant in Gulshan of the capital. This generation’s singers, actors, presenters and many others were present there. Runa Laila’s birthday has never been celebrated before with such a beautiful arrangement.
On the occasion of Runa Laila’s birthday, the special episode of Channel i’s celebrity show, ‘Taroka Kothon’ titled ‘Aj Runa Lailar Jonmodin’ will be aired today at 4:00pm. On the occasion of Runa Laila’s birthday, this special episode of ‘Taroka Kothon’ has been decorated in different ways by the production of Anonna Ruma.
On the occasion of her birthday, Runa Laila told this correspondent, “We have come to Kolkata to spend time like ourselves. Not a party. It feels very good when the birthday comes. Everyone remembers me on this special day. Especially on the social media Facebook, many people wrote different things very neatly. Somewhere I read very carefully. I am aware of myself. Still many people request for new songs. It’s also a matter of liking. I want to do the new song as an artiste. Now it is not always possible to make new songs like before. But as I love a good lyric, I have to love the melody as well. If two things are well said on the bat, then I will definitely sing the song. As at the end of last year, I rendered a new patriotic song. When my birthday comes, I remember my father and mother very much. I also remember my sister Dina Laila. Everyone pray for me, my family may Allah keeps me healthy.”
Runa’s last released original song ‘Jodi Proshno Koro Kotota Bhalobasi Tomake’, which was written by Gazi Mazharul Anwar and composed by Shafiq Tuhin. The music of the song was arranged by Foad Nasser Babu.
Runa Laila said that she has already composed several new songs. Next year, she wants to release these songs composed by artistes of this generation.
Runa Laila made her debut as a music composer in the movie ‘Ekta Cinemar Golpo’ directed by noted film actor Alamgir. Ankhi Alamgir gave voice to Runa’s composed song. Runa Laila and Ankhi Alamgir won the National Film Awards respectably for composing and singing song in this movie.
The song titled ‘Golpo Kothar Oi Kolpoloke Jani’ was written by country’s best lyricist Gazi Mazharul Anwar.
