Members of Bangladesh Cricket team return home on Sunday. After playing against Australia on Saturday night, Bangladesh Cricket team arrived in the capital by a chartered flight on Sunday morning. Bangladesh Cricket team reached Dhaka at 10.00am. Players and the members of the Team Management of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) returned home. But most of the foreign coaching staff did not arrive in the city. Only Head Coach of Bangladesh Cricket team Chandika Hathurusingha reached the city. Earlier, Captain of Bangladesh Cricket team Shakib Al Hasan returned home.
Bangladesh went to India to take part in the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup. Bangladesh had a dream to play in the semi-finals of the World Cup. But Bangladesh collected only four points playing nine matches. Bangladesh started their World Cup mission with a happy note as they defeated Afghanistan by six wickets in their first match on October 7. But after that, Bangladesh failed to show satisfactory performance. Bangladesh finished eighth in the ICC Men’s World Cup 2023. It may be mentioned that Bangladesh confirmed their participation in the upcoming Champions Trophy. The eight-team Champions Trophy will be held in Pakistan.
Though Bangladesh Cricket team failed to earn an acceptable result in the ICC Men’s World Cup 2023, but Bangladesh gained a handsome prize-money. Bangladesh have got US$ one lakh as participation money. As Bangladesh won two matches in the round-robin league Bangladesh have earned US$ eighty thousand. Bangladesh have gained almost Taka two crore as prize-money after taking part in the World Cup.
Players of Bangladesh will not get a long time recess. Bangladesh will play against New Zealand in a two-match Test series. Bangladesh will take on New Zealand in the first Test, which will start on November 28 at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. The Tigers will face the Kiwis in the second Test, which will begin on December 6 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur.
New Zealand Cricket team are scheduled to arrive in the capital on November 22.
