Motorbike-private car collision leaves 2 dead in Bagerhat

A motorcyclist and his pillion rider were killed and three others injured in a collision between a motorbike and a private car on Khulna-Mongla Highway in Rampal upazila of Khulna on Friday.

The deceased were motorcyclist Razzak, 33, of Bagerhat’s Fakirhat upazila and rider Md Harun-Or-Rashid, 35, of Rajshahi’s Baghmara upazila.

Md Ashraful Alam, officer-in-charge of Rampal police station, said the accident occurred around 2 pm when the motorbike and car collided with each other from opposite directions in the Ransen area on the highway, leaving Razzak dead and four others including Harun critically injured.

They were rushed to Upazila Health Complex where physicians declared Harun dead upon arrival, he said, adding that the rest of the injured were car passengers undergoing treatment.

The car was seized but its driver managed to flee, the OC said, adding that legal action will be taken in this regard.
