Ship with 54mt coals for Rampal Power Plant arrives Mongla Port

The 2nd unit of Bangladesh-India Friendship coal based Power Plant at Rampal under Rampal Upazila in Bagerhat district with the capacity of 620 megawatts was virtually and jointly inaugurated by Sheikh Hasina, the Premier of Bangladesh (from Dhaka) and Narendra Modi, the Premier of India (from Delhi) on Wednesday at noon and in the early hours of the day a foreign commercial ship “MV Jog Rajib” carrying the national flag of India and loading some 54,070 metric tons coals for the coal based Rampal Power Plant arrived at Mongla Sea Port and anchored with the Fairway Buoy.

The Ship loading the coals from Indonesian Sea Port Muarapantai left the country on October 21 for Bangladesh.

It may be mentioned here that every day some 5 thousand metric tons coals are required to run the 1320 megawatts capacitate Bangladesh-India Friendship Power Plant.

Khondokar Riazul Haq, Assistant Manager of M/S. Toggy Shipping and Logistic Ltd., the local agent of the ship confirmed the matter.

The ship after unloading some 23 thousand metric tons coals at Chottogram Port it arrived at Mongla Sea Port with the rest coals.

The unloading work of the imported coals was already started by this time.

After the completion of the unloading works, the coals will be sent to the jetty of the Power Plant by lighter ships and later, the coals will be taken into the go-down of the Power Plant.

It is also mentionable here that on October 21 a ship named “MV Sagar Jit” carrying the national flag of Singapore arrived at Mongla Port loading some 33,111metric tons coal s for Rampal Power Plant.
