LPG price goes up by Tk18 per 12kg cylinder
Staff Reporter :
Authorities have increased the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) by Tk18 for the 12kg cylinders at the consumer level.
Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) announced the price hike in a press conference at its office on Thursday, saying the new price will come into effect at 6:00pm on Thursday.
The price was hiked by Tk79 in the previous month. A 12kg cylinder of LPG will now sell at Tk 1,381 in November, instead of Tk 1,363.
Besides, at the consumer level, the price of autogas has been adjusted to Tk63.36 per kg, including VAT.
In the last month, the price of autogas was fixed at Tk62.54 per kg, including VAT at the consumer level.
The regulator adjusts the LPG price every month. The price hike, however, will not be applicable for the cylinders provided by the government company.
BERC sets the price of private companies bottled LPG in line with Saudi Arabia’s Aramco’s contract prices of propane and butane, the main ingredients of LPG.
Bangladesh’s annual LPG consumption is about 14.28 lakh metric tonnes, with households accounting for about 84 percent of the consumption. Around 99% of the market is dominated by private companies.
