ICC Men’s Cricket World: Cup Bangladesh lose to Pakistan

Bangladesh lost to Pakistan by seven wickets in their seventh match of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, the former capital city of Kolkata on Tuesday.
Chasing Bangladesh’s total of 204 in 45.1 overs, Pakistan overhauled the winning target in 32.3 overs scoring 205 for the loss three wickets.
Bangladesh lost their early three wickets for 23 runs.
Opener Litton Das and third-down Mahmudullah Riyad repaired the damage adding together 79 runs for the fourth wicket partnership before Litton was caught at the midwicket by Agha Salman off Iftikhar Ahmed when Bangladesh’s total was 102 for the loss of four wickets.
Litton Das hit a fine 45. His 64-ball innings had six fours.
After Littons dismissal, Mahmudullah Riyad and Shakib Al Hasan contributed together 28 runs in the fifth wicket stand before Riyad was bowled out by Shaheen Shah Afridi when the Tigers’ score was 130 for the loss of five wickets.
Riyad hit a marvelous 56. He hit six fours and a sixer in his 70-ball knock.
After Riyad’s departure, Bangladesh batters failed to make any notable partnership.
Shakib Al Hasan hit a captain’s knock of 43. His 64-ball innings was belted with four fours.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz scored 25 from 30 deliveries including one four and one six.
Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mohammad Wasim claimed three wickets each instead of 23 and 31 runs respectively, while Haris Rauf captured two wickets giving 36 runs.
Besides, Iftikhar Ahmed and Usama Mir took one wicket apiece.
Pakistan made a solid start as openers Abdullah Shafique and Fakhar Zaman put on together 128 runs in the opening stand before Shafique was trapped leg before wicket by Mehidy Hasan Miraz.
Shafique notched up a polished 68. His 69-bal innings was laced with nine fours and two sixes.
Fakhar Zaman hit a terrific 81. He hit seven sixes and three fours in his 74-ball knock.
Skipper Babar Azam again failed to shine with willow.
He could score only nine runs.
Mohammad Rizwan and Iftikhar Ahmed helped their side to reach the winning spot adding together 36 runs in the unbroken fourth wicket partnership.
Rizwan remained unbeaten with 26 runs, while Iftikhar remained unbeaten with 17 runs.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz claimed three wickets for 60 runs.
