Huge sand piles left beside houses, roads in Ishwardi

Huge piles of sand near the roads and settlements of Sara and Lakshikunda Unions on the banks of the Padma River in Ishwardi.

The piled sand kept on the sides of houses and roads is constantly polluting the environment.

The wind blows sand into the house.

When the wind rises, there is no way to move through these roads, the sand flies into the eyes of pedestrians.

It is alleged that the eyes of some were damaged by sand falling into their eyes.

During cooking and even during meals, sand is flying into the rice and curry in the homestead.

Due to the long-standing sand trade, there is no end to the pollution of the environment as well as the suffering of the common people.

Earlier, the administration had given instructions to remove the sand pile within two months, but it was not obeyed.

Locals said that the sand traders are influential and powerful in the area.

There is no one to see them suffering due to lack of money.

A child died after being buried under a pile of sand.

On August 7 this year, two children were killed by sand while playing in a sand pile in Sara Blockpara area.

Due to these incidents, the residents have repeatedly demanded to remove the pile of sand in the populated area.

But no one came forward to fulfill the demands of the local residents.

On the surface, Islampara, Majdia, Arambaria, Sara 5 Ghat, Jhowdia, Sara Blockpara, Majhdia Barapara, Chhotapara areas of Sara Union can be seen, populated and huge sand piles on the side of the road.

40-50 people are doing business by making mattresses next to these piles. Roads are impassable due to sand vehicular movement.

The road in front of the Upazila Parishad from the railway gate was built only a few days ago, but it has been destroyed due to the movement of drum trucks.
