Oct 28 rally is on even if police bar: Jamaat
News Desk :
Jamaat-e-Islami has said it will press on with a street protest at Motijheel’s Shapla Chattar even if Dhaka Metropolitan Police do not give the go-ahead.
In a statement on Thursday, Jamaat called upon all its leaders and supporters to join in the rally on Saturday, reports bdnews24.com
The party’s acting chief Mujibur Rahman in an emergency press briefing said Jamaat, as a “democratic and systematic” party, sought a free, transparent and participatory general election following the resignation of the current government and the appointment of a non-partisan caretaker rule, the statement read.
It said that the government has ignored all demands to release the party chief Shafiqur Rahman along with other leaders and supporters of the party, withdraw false cases and lower the prices of daily commodities to bring them within the reach of the people.
