Govt to buy 12m liters edible oil, 6,000 tonnes lentil

The Cabinet Committee on Public Purchase has approved three separate proposals for purchasing of soybean oil, rice bran oil and lentils for the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) under the Ministry of Commerce.

On Wednesday Sayeed Mahbub Khan, Additional Secretary to the Cabinet Division said about this in details after the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Public Purchase.

6 thousand metric tonnes of lentil will be purchased by open tender system through the TCB in the fiscal year 2023-24.

The lentils will be bought from Shabnam vegetable Oil Industries Ltd by spending Tk 66 crore 58 lakh 20 thousand, Additional secretary said.

He further said 40 lakh liters of rice bran oil will be purchased from Majumdar Bran Oil Mills Ltd by spending Tk 62.50 crore.

Besides, 8 million liters of soybean oil will be purchased from City Edible Oil Limited through local open tender system by spending 125.10 crore.
